NYC

The day after Aubrey's birthday party we took a trip on the train down to NYC. This was Aubrey, Jen and Nathan's first trip to New York. We got up really early to catch the train from New Haven, CT to Grand Central Station in NYC and make the most of the day. The train actually runs right along Sam's work, so if we watched carefully we were able to see it.

As you can see the girls were excited, but the boys took advantage of the train ride to take a little cat nap. Sam actually got Aubrey to sleep a little bit of the way which was nice.

First stop was the empire state building! It was a georgeous day and we had bought our tickets ahead of time so we avoided all but one of the lines to get to the top of the building. That was a life saver since Aubrey wasn't a big fan a waiting in line... and neither were we!
Here we are looking downtown towards the Statue of Liberty and the location of Ground Zero. Here we are looking uptown and just over the top of the buildings you can see part of Central Park.
We enjoyed the view, but decided not to purchase the addtional tickets to go up to the 102 floor. The regular tickets take you to the 86th floor and the main observatory deck. Next stop Time Square!

Sam and Nathan reading the ticker on the ABC Good Mornig America builing.

Aubrey was getting a little tired and hungry by this time!

Wow, the Hershey's store...chocolate anyone?!

After lunch Aubrey finally got a little more rest...riding the subway if you can believe it!

Ground Zero site.

We rode the ferry (accompanied by the coast guard with a machine gun) out to the Statue of Liberty. The New York skyline view was amazing from the island.

Aubrey practiced walking on the ferry.

The Statue of Liberty!

After a long day of walking, riding the subway, ferry and train we were ready to head home. Some of us got an earlier start on sleep than others!

Aubrey still managed to have fun and make friends on the ride home.
