2011

Well we got to 2011 and haven't stopped since...kind of. We spend the Christmas holiday in Nebraska with my family and had a lot of fun. It is so nice to be close to family again and be able to enjoy the holiday with them. Over New Years weekend Sam and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary and went out for a great dinner at the Melting Pot. It was the first time either of us had been there and of course we ate way too much food. If any of you have eaten there you know it is really easy to do and especially when you order the 4-course meal! When our white chocolate creme brulee' came I was in heaven...until my stomach was bulging over my pants and I had to stand up so I didn't get sick at the table. OK, it may not have been that bad, but I did overindulge! Unfortunately, one of my PA coworkers quit on us just before Christmas, so I have been having to work every other weekend since, so i ended up working on our actual anniversary which was a bummer. It has made for some long days and weeks, but we are hoping to get a replacement to help us out soon. Then we went back to Nebraska again for one of my cousin's weddings. Everything was beautiful, somehow my cousin's new wife (Jill, yes another Jill Johnson in the fam) managed to make the colors from mossy oak camo (the groomsmen's vests) work into the entire wedding decor. We had so much fun and especially Aubrey dancing and running around with all of the other children.

Sam has been officiating wrestling almost every Saturday and a few nights during the week as well. He actually just completed his last dual last night and I'm kind of grateful to have him back on the weekends. We have been trying to stay warm the past week since the temperature has been staying in the single digits and below zero in the evenings. I wonder how any animals survive outside in those temps? Our little dogs, Maci and Spike, hate to go outside to use the bathroom. When they do, they end up having to try to go while holding one or two feet off the ground because it is so cold. Then they slowly walk back limping like they are injured because the feet which were on the ground are so cold they refuse to walk on them. It sounds horrible, but it actually is quite funny to watch! I've thought about getting little dog shoes for them, but what a pain that would be to take 8 little booty shoes on and off each time they went outside for 2 minutes.

Aubrey caused some excitement last week when she decided to give herself a haircut. I guess she had watched Sam give himself a haircut with the clippers (which he has done many times before) and a little while later decided to pull out the clippers herself. She actually grabbed the scissors from the kit and chopped some bangs. Surprisingly, they turned out pretty good and we just took her into a saloon to have them evened out a little bit. You wouldn't even be able to tell she did it herself! She is still loving preschool and learning how to spell her own name. She really isn't interested in writing her name yet, but I'm not too worried about that.

Hope everyone has fun watching the Super Bowl this weekend. My Dad and Janet are coming down to hang out with us and watch Aubrey while Sam and I have an over night date. It should be fun...we are planning on getting sushi!! Yummy!! Plus Sam is going to smoke a brisket for the game and I have a few goodies planned as well. Have a great weekend and pictures to come!!
